She was a fourth generation Californian and 12th generation American with ancestors coming to the Jamestown VA settlement in 1613 and on the Mayflower in 1620.

She was born July 19, 1915 on a farm established by her Grandfather in the Tremont District of Solano Co. Calif. just south of Davis.

She graduated from The San Jose Normal School (now San Jose State Univ.) in 1937 and taught school in Kelseyville and Lincoln before marrying Thomas (Sandy) McBride and moving to Antelope.

She continued teaching in the Citrus Heights schools for several more years, before retiring to continue her service to children as a leader in PTA, Cub Scouts, 4H and a Sunday School superintendent and teacher at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Roseville. She and Sandy were also long time sponsors of the church Mariners couples club and for many years enjoyed hosting a weekend for them and their families at Jean and Sandy's cabin at Lake Tahoe.

She was a member of the Antelope Sewing Club for 58 years.

Jean was creative. She was a ceramist, knitter, created Christmas tree ornaments and other household decorations and put together illustrated book with her collecion of Children's Poems for her grandchildren.
