In anticipation of a new road alignment of State Route 448 in Sevierville, the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) commissioned site studies of the area which would be disturbed. This included the cemetery where Isaac Thomas and Peter and Mary Andes are buried.

Phase I - 1997 - Site Survey
Phase II - 2001 - 10 small excavations, 4 larger ( 1 x 1 m.) ones and trenches.
Phase III - Autum 2002 - Disinternment and analysis of 56 graves and field investigations uncovering a large number of prehistoric artifacts. - DuVall & Associates.

As of June, 2005, DuVall & Associates Archaeological & Historical Services had a large draft report and were working on revisions which the TDOT eventually would like to publish.
