John Jones, was born in 1760 in Springfield, MA. He served in Burt's Company, Guards, Militia, Massachusetts during the American Revolution from 1777-1782. He married Sarah Soule, from Westford, on Jan 18, 1787 in Westfield, MA. Her Great Great Grandfather, George Soule, came to America on the Mayflower in 1620.

John Jones Sikes moved to Genesee River, New York sometime prior to 1796 and then Lawrence Co. Ohio probably after 1803. He was last seen in Cincinnati piloting a flatboat with produce down the Ohio River with some produce for New Orleans and never arrived. He is presumed to have drowned in the Ohio River near Mason Co., KY in 1807

Sarah was a descendant of George Soule a Mayflower passenger.
