Contents: Dates of Immigration Ships Early European Ancestors Immigrants by Family: Sikes-Woodley | Thomas-Gard | McBride-Finley | Hellar-King-Lewelling Place of Origin Despite having genealogies going back more than 10 generations for 4 of these families (to the 1500's for more than a dozen lines within these families) and to at least the early 1800's for all the families, we have located only 27% of their immigrant ancestors. Many have been in the US for 8 or more generations and most were probably from England. We have located more than 60 immigrants distributed as follows: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Most of these 8 families (4 Great grandparents of people born around 200-2019 - Generation 1) have been in the US for 5 or more generations so that's 256 people (Great-Great-Great Grandparents) for the 8 families (Generation 6). We have only located 70 of the immigrants countries of origin, which is why the numbers do not add up to 100%.
Several genealogies list immigrants born prior to 1635 as "of Hartford, CT". Since Hartford was a Dutch trading post then and the town was not established until 1635 when some English settlers came down from Mass. these people were probably not born in Hartford. ** Ethnicity of generation 3 descendants of all the Gen. 6 families. For each generation back ethnicity is cut in half. e.g. Your Great Grandmother contributes 1/8th while your Grandmother contributes 1/4 towards your ethnicity. Since the Scottish ancestors immigrated more recently they have a larger effect even though there are fewer of them. * GEN - Generations back from 2000. Immigrants are highlighted on the fan charts.
